Virbhadra Singh, Union Minister of MSME inaugurated the PMEGP Expo here today. Speaking on the occasion he said that this exhibition provides a marketing platform to the large number of micro entrepreneurs under PMEGP. He went round the exhibits and congratulated the exhibitors on the good work done under this Scheme. Shri. R.K. Mathur, Secretary, Ministry of MSME, Shri. Dinesh Singh, Jt. Secretary, MSME, Shri. J.S. Mishra, Commissioner for KVI and Shri. D.C. Pattanayak, FA, KVIC were also present on the occasion.
164 Stalls have been set up in the PMEGP Expo and PMEGP/REGP as well as select Khadi Institutions from all over the Country, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Kutch to Arunachal Pradesh are participating in the Expo to display and sell their products.
The product range includes Herbal products, Organic spices, Honey, Hand Made paper and Papeir Mache products, leather range, cane and bamboo items, pottery, Khadi readymade and fabric, handicraft, jute bags, artificial jewellery and many more exclusive items.
Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) was launched on 15th August,2008, and is the flagship scheme of Ministry of MSME. PMEGP is a potent vehicle which provides setting up of Micro projects with maximum project cost of Rs. 25.00 lakhs for manufacturing and upto Rs.10.00 lakhs for Service industries by using local raw material and skill and providing employment to local unemployed youth at their door step in rural and urban areas. KVIC is the single Nodal Agency at National level to implement and monitor the scheme. 1.41 lakh projects have been sanctioned under the scheme so far providing employment opportunities to 13.57 lakh persons.
